SafeNet Fusion authenticators from Thales are tokens which can hold both FIDO2 and PKI credentials. They can be used for FIDO log in to modern web services and Windows, such as Microsoft Azure and SafeNet Trusted Access. The same Fusion token can also be used for corporate e-mail, digital signing or file encryption services, which are already set up to use PKI certificate-based authentication. These are the recommended replacement for a Gemalto/Thales 5300 MINI, where FIPS certification is not required.
These SafeNet eTokens are FIDO2 certified. This version has a standard USB-A connection.
FIDO (Fast Identity Online) is an increasingly popular way to identify users at log in, without passwords, and in a way that resists phishing and replay techniques, commonly used in identity fraud. FIDO2 is the latest iteration of the standard, in use since 2018.
For a large organisation you would integrate the management of these keys into an existing PKI and FIDO credential management system, such as the SafeNet Trusted Access platform from Thales.
