Choosing the right hardware-based security devices
With many years of experience in smartcard chip design, card operating system development, middleware and client software, Thales Group delivers a complete portfolio of enterprise authentication hardware through its long-established Gemalto and SafeNet product lines.
These solutions are designed to meet a wide range of security standards and regulatory requirements, including Common Criteria (EAL), FIPS and government and industry frameworks, while supporting modern identity platforms from Microsoft and leading cloud and on-premise infrastructures.
FIDO authentication tokens
Thales FIDO authenticators are ideal for protecting enterprise environments from privileged user attacks by delivering phishing-resistant authentication, backed by certified secure hardware and enterprise-grade lifecycle controls.
With options that combine FIDO authentication and PKI on a single device, Thales enables strong, auditable access for administrators across cloud, on-prem and legacy systems – reducing credential theft, lateral movement and misuse of high-risk accounts.
FIDO multi-factor authentication (MFA) hardware devices can support passwordless logon to Windows and SaaS apps.
FIDO smartcards
FIDO smartcards extend passwordless authentication to card-based environments and support both desktop and mobile use with contact and contactless interfaces.
Thales also produce FIDO smartcards that provide an all-in-one, photo-id printable, card that can combine FIDO, PKI, and physical access standards – for securing access to buildings and facilities, legacy apps, network domains and cloud services.
PKI smartcards
SafeNet IDPrime smart cards are minidriver-enabled PKI smartcards that work seamlessly with any Microsoft environment. PKI security enables strong authentication, password management, secure digital signatures and data security solutions.
We offer a free SIM cutting service for contact-only PKI cards, for cards to be used in SIM-size USB stick card readers.
Additionally, we supply hybrid smartcards that combine contactless RFID interface chips, such as MIFARE, Prox or Paxton Net2, with a Thales PKI contact chip in the same card body. This enables organisations to provide staff with a single card for network logon, door access and other applications.
PKI USB Tokens
Thales PKI tokens work seamlessly with any Microsoft environment. PKI security enables strong authentication, password management, secure digital signatures and data security solutions.
Fully compliant with the latest Microsoft minidriver specifications for use on Windows, without the need for additional software.
Thales also produce SIM-sized USB stick smartcard readers, that can be used together with a SIM-cut PKI smartcard.
Contactless PC/SC smartcard readers
Thales’s NFC reader supports various technologies including ISO 14443, MIFARE, FeliCa, ISO 15693 and ISO 18092-compliant NFC cards and tags. It’s compact IP 67 rated casing and combined USB A and C connectivity make it ideal for a wide range of contactless applications.
Contact PC/SC smartcard readers
The IDBridge family of contact smartcard readers are backed by more than 30 years of security and cryptography research and development – they are reliable, versatile and compliant with an array of industry standards and certifications for ISO 7816 cards.
Accessories include stands to allow vertical card insertion, and floppy drive bay housing for integration into desktop chassis.
